Refractive Surgery & Laser Vision Correction in Beirut

Refractive surgery aims to reduce dependence on glasses or contact lenses by changing the focusing power of the eye.

The most important step is deciding whether the eye is a good candidate for treatment and what visual target is appropriate.

Dr Seif provides refractive assessment and surface laser vision correction, including TransPRK/PRK, for appropriately selected patients.

Is laser vision correction suitable for your eyes?

Assessment includes the prescription and its stability, corneal thickness and shape, corneal topography/tomography, ocular-surface health, visual goals and the overall health of the eye.

The aim is to identify both the likely benefit and any feature that makes laser correction less appropriate.

TransPRK / PRK

PRK and TransPRK reshape the cornea at the surface without creating a corneal flap.

For suitable eyes, surface laser provides an established flap-free approach to refractive correction. Candidacy and treatment planning depend on the prescription, corneal anatomy and ocular-surface health rather than preference for a particular technology.

Visual recovery is progressive rather than immediate and varies between patients.

Good refractive care starts with patient selection

Some eyes are better served by glasses, contact lenses or another strategy rather than laser treatment.

A refractive consultation should identify these situations clearly and recommend surgery only when the expected benefit and safety profile are appropriate for the eye.
